2019 Denver Guitar Festival & Competition Winners

Dragos Ilie of Austin Texas won 1st place during the competition portion of the first annual Denver Guitar Festival & Competition at the Lamont School of Music, at the University of Denver this past weekend. He is pictured here showcasing one of James’ recent classical guitars at the competition.

The three-day celebration of the classical guitar included guest recitals, lectures, master classes, and featured Luthiers showing their hand-built classical guitars as well as the Josefina P. Tuason International Guitar Competition and Youth Competition, totaling $6000 in prize money.

Second place went to Jesus Serrano of the Netherlands pictured here. Serrano also showcased one of James’ classical guitars at the competition. It was a great show and I met some very nice folks and accomplished players. I’ll be back!
