21 Sep Hybrid Bracing System for Steel Strings
Here’s a look at the Hybrid bracing system I use in my steel string guitars. It can be modified to work with any body size and string tension. Called a “Crossover” it features X-bracing commonly used in steel string guitars for its structural stability. I combine the x-bracing technique with additional fan bracing from classical guitar construction which is known for its tonal balance, string separation and sustain. Strong enough to withstand the tension of a twelve string at concert pitch it requires a considerable amount of time to put together, but well worth it!!
